This course is specifically designed for Security Guards with expiring licences, offering the updated training required to stay compliant. Previously known as the ‘Top-Up’ course, this revised course meets the latest SIA standards, consolidating all essential elements needed for licence renewal.
Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all Security Guards must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Successful completion of this course enables a Security Guard to meet one of the requirements to renew their licence.
All pricing is inclusive of VAT. For training outside of our core delivery area (North West, Midlands and West Yorkshire), additional costs for travel and accommodation may apply.
SIA-Licence linked training must be delivered at a pre-approved premises that meets licensing requirements. All of our classrooms meet these requirements and are located in Lancaster, Liverpool, London and Manchester.
Learners must be aged 18 years or over.
Registration Documents
Learners must complete registration documents in advance of the course commencement. This includes providing two proofs of address and one proof of identity from a specified list.
English Language
Learners should have, at a minimum, language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Ofqual Level 1 or an equivalent standard. If you are unsure whether you meet this requirement, please contact us.
Candidates will be assessed via:

As this qualification is regulated in England, the assessments are conducted in English. It is important that learners have reasonable abilities in English language to have a fair opportunity to being successful.
Learners who successfully complete all assessments will receive the Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) and will be eligible to renew their SIA Security Guarding Licence.
This course is important because refresher training is now a requirement for Security Guards renewing their SIA licence. FGH Training delivers this course to help learners meet the updated standard, remain eligible for licence renewal, and keep their knowledge in line with current industry requirements.
This course is suitable for learners who already hold an SIA Security Guarding Licence and need to complete the required refresher training before renewing it. FGH Training delivers it for those who need to meet the latest renewal requirements and continue working legally as Security Guards in the private security industry.
Learners will gain the updated knowledge and training needed to complete the refresher requirement for SIA licence renewal. Through FGH Training, they will also complete the required learning and assessments, including Emergency First Aid, giving them the support needed to remain compliant and continue working in licensed security roles.
This course is useful because it helps organisations keep licence holders compliant and ready to continue working in frontline Security Guarding roles.
