The Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry is designed to show that learners have obtained and can demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to be a Security Officer.
The primary purpose of the qualification is to confirm occupational competence. However, employers can also rely on the knowledge provided as meeting nationally recognised standards within security at this level. As such the sub-purpose is to confirm the ability to meet a ‘licence to practise’ or other legal requirements made by the relevant sector, professional or industry body.
Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all security officers must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Successful completion of this course enables a security officer to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence.
All pricing is inclusive of VAT. For training outside of our core delivery area (North West, Midlands and West Yorkshire), additional costs for travel and accommodation may apply.
When Should You Tell Us?
It is important that you inform us of any reasonable adjustment requirements as early as possible. This allows enough time for us to apply to the awarding organisation and obtain approval before your assessment takes place.
Important: To ensure sufficient time for approval, learners should submit reasonable adjustment requests and supporting evidence at least 5 weeks before their assessment date wherever possible.
What Evidence Will Be Required?
The awarding organisation requires evidence to support all reasonable adjustment requests. Depending on your circumstances, this may include the following:

Approval Process
All reasonable adjustment requests must be approved by the awarding organisation before they can be implemented. Applications are reviewed based on the evidence provided and the requirements of the qualification.
Please note that requests may be refused if they would compromise the validity of the assessment or create a health and safety risk.

Learners must be aged 18 years or over.
Registration Documents
Learners must complete registration documents in advance of the course commencement. This includes providing two proofs of address and one proof of identity from a specified list.
English Language
Learners should have, at a minimum, language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Ofqual Level 1 or an equivalent standard. If you are unsure whether you meet this requirement, please contact us.

This qualification is made up of 3 mandatory units.
Learners are assessed for the SFJ Awards Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry through knowledge assessments and practical assessments.
As this qualification is regulated in England, the assessments are conducted in English. It is important that learners have reasonable abilities in the English language to have a fair opportunity to being successful.
Learners who successfully complete all assessments will be eligible to apply for their SIA Security Guarding Licence.

Group Booking RequestThe SFJ Awards Security Officer qualification is designed for employees who need to apply for an SIA Security Guard licence.
It is suitable for organisations deploying security personnel across corporate buildings, warehouses, manufacturing sites, construction projects, educational settings, retail locations and other guarding environments.
The course can be delivered at one of FGH Training’s approved classrooms in Lancaster, Manchester or Liverpool.
Delivery may also be possible at your premises. However, the training room and facilities must first be assessed and approved in line with SFJ Awards’ requirements.
Yes. Learners must hold an appropriate and current first aid qualification that meets SIA requirements before beginning their Security Officer training.
FGH Training includes Emergency First Aid at Work with all Door Supervision courses, which takes place on the first day of learning.
This depends on where and how you intend to deploy them.
The Security Officer qualification may be appropriate for employees working solely in guarding environments. The Door Supervisor qualification provides wider deployment options because a Door Supervisor licence generally also permits security guarding activities.

No. Successfully completing the qualification allows the learner to apply for an SIA Security Guard licence.
The SIA will complete its own identity, eligibility and criminal-record checks before deciding whether to grant the licence. FGH Training cannot guarantee that an application will be approved.
FGH Training will explain which element has not been passed and advise your organisation on the available reassessment options. Additional training may be recommended before the learner attempts the assessment again.
