The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for:
Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016 must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.
Over a 2-day period, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including assessing an emergency situation, dealing with an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, meningitis, head and spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, asthma and more.
All pricing is inclusive of VAT. For training outside of our core delivery area (North West, Midlands and West Yorkshire), additional costs for travel and accommodation may apply.
English Language
Learners should have, at a minimum, language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Ofqual Level 1 or an equivalent standard. If you are unsure whether you meet this requirement, please contact us.
The qualification is assessed through 7 practical tasks and 2 theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers).
Successful learners will receive a personalised Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).

Group Booking RequestThis course is ideal for nurseries, pre-schools, schools, childminders, holiday clubs, activity providers and other organisations that care for babies or children. It is particularly relevant to early years practitioners and employees with designated first aid responsibilities.
The qualification is designed to meet the requirements for a full Paediatric First Aid course within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in England. The current framework states that full Paediatric First Aid training should last at least 12 hours and cover first aid for both babies and children. View the current EYFS framework.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a one-day course focused on immediate, life-threatening emergencies. The full Paediatric First Aid qualification is delivered over two days and covers a broader range of childhood illnesses and injuries, making it more appropriate for employees with greater first aid responsibilities or settings that require full Paediatric First Aid training.
Successful learners receive a regulated qualification that is valid for three years. The course must be completed again before the certificate expires for the learner to remain qualified. Organisations should also consider annual refresher training to help employees maintain their practical skills.
Yes, FGH Training can deliver private Paediatric First Aid courses at your workplace or another venue with enough space to host the practical training and assessments. Alternatively, training can be arranged at one of our classrooms.
Under the EYFS framework, at least one person with a current Paediatric First Aid certificate must be available whenever children are present and must accompany children on outings. Organisations should also consider staff shifts, absences, the number of children, the layout of the premises and how quickly a trained first aider could respond. This may mean training more than the minimum number of employees.
