Activity First Aid FAQs

Who is Activity First Aid training suitable for?

FGH Training recommends this course for people responsible for first aid during organised activities, including:

  • Sports coaches and club employees
  • Leisure and recreation teams
  • Activity instructors
  • Youth and community workers
  • Event and festival teams
  • Volunteers and group leaders

The course prepares employees and volunteers to respond confidently when somebody becomes ill or injured during an activity. Its broader syllabus can be particularly valuable where physical activity creates risks beyond those normally found in a low-risk workplace.

The qualification is valid for three years. Learners must complete the course again before their certificate expires to remain qualified. Organisations should monitor expiry dates to avoid gaps in their first aid provision.

Emergency First Aid at Work is a one-day course focused on essential workplace emergencies.

Activity First Aid is delivered over two days and covers a broader range of injuries and illnesses that may occur during sports, leisure and organised activities, including fractures and musculoskeletal injuries.

Not automatically. Employers should use a first aid needs assessment to determine the most appropriate qualification for their workplace.

Activity First Aid may be appropriate where recreational or physical activities form part of the organisation’s work. Workplaces with greater or more complex occupational risks may require the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work instead.

The course can be useful for organisations delivering outdoor activities, but it is not specifically designed for remote locations where emergency assistance may be delayed.

FGH Training can recommend Outdoor First Aid, Forestry First Aid +F or another specialist qualification where the environment presents additional risks.

Yes. FGH Training can deliver a private Activity First Aid course at your workplace or another venue that can suitably host the practical training and assessments. Alternatively, training can be arranged at one of our classrooms.
